Alejandro Wiltshire is a graduating senior at the Watson College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Binghamton University studying Biomedical Engineering. Since his freshman year he has conducted research focused on understanding human skin and the conditions that affect it. As a researcher, he noticed the lack of published research and educational information surrounding skin in people of color. Thus, he began a presentation with doctors and medical students to address this disparity and educate physicians in the Broom County area. This presentation was well received and this past January, Alejandro and his colleagues presented again at the New York State Family Medicine Conference. He plans on focusing his career on filling the gaps in healthcare education that communities of color disproportionately face. Outside of healthcare, Alejandro is a proud member of the Ruthless Rho chapter of Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity Inc., and is the Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics chair of the Binghamton University Art Club.

I didn't know what to expect with the summit but was surprised with how it turned out. It was nice to see alumni and students together
There was great energy in the room for the full day. It was especially nice to see the students gather together in the atrium after the conference and come together.
I liked hearing the stories of the panelists and speakers. They were also really open after the events for questions.
